Poltava Oblast governor Valeriy Asadchev is not satisfied with preparations of the city to celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Poltava.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this to a meeting of local officials in the Poltava Oblast State Administration.

“The 300th anniversary of the Battle of Poltava is in a month. Nobody knows how it will be marked. It is unclear whether the higher officials will arrive. The preparations have been very bad so far”, the governor stressed.

V.Asadchev was most of all disappointed with the condition of roads and the very field where the battle took place.

“The roads are in a terrible condition. I don’t know what people, who will arrive from European autobahns, will think about us. It’s almost impossible to drive in the city. The field is not ready. Any recultivation has not started, and it seems, nobody carried it out. The arch of reconciliation, in my opinion, looks miserable”, the governor noted.

The 300th anniversary of the Battle of Poltava will be celebrated in Poltava on June 27, 2009.
