In the document, he informed of the reasons of his move in details, and emphasized that the decision was well-thought and would not be recalled.

According to V.Baloha, the main reason for his resignation was his categorical disagreement with the decision of Victor Yushchenko to run for the second presidential term. “I’m convinced that you have no moral right to run for the presidential election. At least, I will not be your ally in this”, he claimed.

V.Baloha emphasized that Victor Yushchenko, during the whole period of his tenure, could not fulfill promises that he gave to the Ukrainian society during the electoral campaign of the year 2004. “That time, the Ukrainian nation, on the wave of unprecedented enthusiasm, entrusted you with the destiny of our country. They trusted you. Millions of Ukrainians saw a hope in every row of you inauguration speech, they hoped that, with a new President, a new Ukraine will appear – without cynical powers, proud, and rich. You were given a full authority to make changes that the country needed so much. They were ready to support you in all the boldest initiatives”, V.Baloha’s statement reads.

According to the statement, “nothing of that hopes came true, the time was irreversibly lost. “Ten Steps Towards People” remained a beautiful myth, none of system reforms were fulfilled. Corruption and favouritism at power, double standards in making state decision became common. It’s a pity to realize h you’ve done nothing to purify the power”.
