The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine may dismiss a chief of the central bank of Ukraine only if the President makes a respective submission.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, this was the ruling of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, publicized on Tuesday.

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko turned to the Constitutional Court with request to explain provision 18 part 1 article 85 of the Ukrainian Constitution, in particular, to tell whether the Verkhovna Rada has a right to dismiss a c.bank chief without any respective submission of the President, and what are the legal ways to dismiss a c.bank chief.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on January 26, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine cancelled its resolution dated 2004 on appointment of Volodymyr Stelmakh as central bank chief of Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko appealed against this decision to the Constitutional Court.
