Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko expects that in the nearest future RosUkrEnergo will leave the gas market, despite the recent statements of Gazprom.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this to a press conference in Kyiv today.

“UkrGazEnergo has been completely wiped out from the market… And I think, in the nearest future, as soon as talks finish, the second mediator, RosUkrEnergo, will be wiped out as well… I’m optimistic about this”, Yulia Tymoshenko said.

The Prime Minister noted that after RosUkrEnergo leaves the gas market, the gas price for Ukraine will not rise.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Alexander Medvedev, Gazprom`s deputy chief executive, said the group had long-term contracts under international law with Rosukrenergo, the Swiss-based trader, and therefore could not immediately cut it out of the trade. "We are not finished with Rosukrenergo. You see we have a system of long-term contracts with Rosukrenergo in international legislation," he told the Financial Times in an interview. "We are now working very carefully not to be in breach of the contract signed."
