The government does not plan to cancel its decree on the list of objects for privatization in 2008.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko claimed this to a press conference after the government’s session today.

“We had a conversation with the President about objects for privatization. We have cleared that we should submit to the President profound grounding of the privatization of Oblenergos, to provide all details concerning the privatization GKOR, and we will submit to the President serious analytical materials in the nearest days”, she said.

The Prime Minister stressed that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko did not set task to cancel the decree on the list of privatization objects.

“Quite the contrary, the President said he is ready to support the government in fair and transparent privatization”, she stressed.

As UNIAN reported earlier, President Victor Yushchenko wrote a letter to Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, according to the President`s press-office.

In his letter President drew Prime Minister’s attention to urgent need to improve the law of Ukraine “On privatization of state property” and the need to work out new State privatization program.

In his letter President also forwarded for Cabinet of Ministers’ consideration a list of enterprises subject to privatization in 2008.

V. Yushchenko requested Prime Minister to inform him on the work progress before February 15, 2008.

Earlier the President claimed that the list of national enterprises and companies to be prepared for privatization in 2008, which Cabinet of Ministers had approved on January 16, 2008 should be called off. V. Yushchenko reminded that he had requested the Cabinet to refrain from approving this list until the law “On State privatization program” is amended which would make privatization procedures transparent and fair and saved the government from mistakes such as with Lugansk locomotive building factory and Kremenchuk oil refinery.
