Yushchenko: Ukraine, EU to sign association agreement in 2009

President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko hopes that the agreement on associated membership will be signed between Ukraine and the European Union in the second half of the year 2009.

According to an UNIAN correspondent, he claimed this at a joint press conference with President of France Nicholas Sarkozy and European Commission head Jose Manuel Barroso in Paris Tuesday.

Victor Yushchenko described the today’s Ukraine-EU Summit as an extremely successful for Ukraine, because it gave a positive signal about European perspectives of Ukraine.
