Ukraine gov`t and Microsoft Ukraine Company agreed on deepening cooperation

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Microsoft Ukraine Company have agreed on deepening cooperation in the sphere of development of information technologies and information protection, according to the government’s press-office. The relevant Memorandums of Understanding have been signed today between Microsoft Ukraine LLC and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection (Derzhspetszvyazok). Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia ymoshenko, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Corporation Steve Ballmer, General Manager of Microsoft Ukraine Company Eric Franke, Minister of Education Ivan Vakarchuk, acting Minister of the Interior Mykhaylo Klyuyev and Head of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection Yurii Chebotarenko participated in the signing ceremony.

      During the signing ceremony Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko stated that the mentioned documents are of great importance for Ukraine. “I am sure that this will give new impetus to our cooperation and those documents which we have concluded are very significant for Ukraine,” the PM of Ukraine stated. According to her, in particular, the Memorandum concluded with the Ministry of Education and Science allows us to deepen cooperation in the system of education, exchange experience, have necessary procedures and programmes allowing on the basis of IT-technologies to upgrade teachers’ activity and improve the system of assimilating knowledge by pupils and students.

      Yulia Tymoshenko also informed that the Memorandum signed with the Ministry of Internal Affairs allows adjusting cooperation, exchange of experience, methods with regard to detection and investigation of crimes connected with human traffic, children’s pornography. In its turn the document signed by the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection, according to the Prime Minister, concerns the system of use and information openness. Yulia Tymoshenko also added that two thirds of the operating system in Ukraine – is “Microsoft” products.

      In his turn, Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Corporation Steve Ballmer told that due to the signed documents the corporation would have an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with Ukraine. According to him, in particular, the Memorandum signed with the State Service of Special Communication and Information Protection provides for openness of outgoing code of Microsoft for work of this service of the Ukrainian Government.

      According to him, every Government in the world is interested in protecting the information it has and processes. “So the Government of Ukraine can be sure that “Microsoft provides reliable protection of work with this information,” CEO of Microsoft Corporation assured.
