“I’m holding talks on this issue. I decided to carry out due diligence of RosUkrEnergo”, he said.

According to him, nearly a month ago he started talks “with Firtash [Dmitriy Firtash is one of RosUkrEnergo owners] about the sale of his stake and the stake of Ivan Fursin in RosUkrEnergo, which make 50%.”

Asked why he is interested in RosUkrEnergo, I.Kolomoyskiy said “Gas contracts”.

Assessing the cost of the company, which net profit in 2006 made up nearly US $0.8 billion dollars, with the proceeds at US $1.7 billion dollars, I.Kolomoyskiy said it will become clear only after they understand which exactly assets, contracts, and for which period, belong to RosUkrEnergo.

“If the information, disseminated by press, appears to be true, I believe these 50% cost not less than US $2-3 billion. Not less! However, there may be things, for which tomorrow one would not spare even US $5 billion”, said I.Kolomoyskiy, whose fortune is assessed by Forbes at US $4.2 billion.

According to him, he is not afraid of the fact that the other 50% of the company belong to Gazprom. “Gazprom is a kind of organization, which strictly and toughly observes signed agreements. To have such a company as Gazprom as a partner – it is an honor for me”, he added.

Till January 2008, RosUkrEnergo AG (Switzerland) was an exclusive gas supplier to Ukraine. 50% of RosUkrEnergo belong to Gazprom, 45% - to Ukrainian businessman Dmitriy Firtash, 5% - to Ivan Fursin.
