Volodymyr Fesenko, chief of Penta Center for political studies, noted that one of possible candidacies for the post of Security Chief is Anatoliy Hrytsenko, as “he enjoys the trust of the Ukrainian President”. According to the expert, as of today, “there is a certain conflict between A.Hrytsenko and Yulia Tymoshenko in the sphere of professional army, and, in case of creating the democratic coalition, his appointing as the Security Chief would allow not to collide them in one government, as Victor Yushchenko understands that the relations between them are rather tense”.

In his turn, chief of “Ukrainian Barometer” sociological service Victor Nebozhenko believes that President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko may appoint Nalyvaychenko for the post of the Security Chief. At the same time, he does not rule out that this post may be occupied by Yuri Lutsenko, Anatoliy Hrytsenko, or Mykola Katerynchuk.

Commenting on the President’s decree on sacking Ivan Pliushch from the post of the Security Chief, V.Fesenko noted that none of security chiefs of Ukraine has ever occupied this post for more than 9 months. According to him, this “sad trend must be interrupted”, and a person must be elected, who would manage the activities of this state body in the sphere of national security, and not just sort out political relations”.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on 26 November, President of Ukraine Victor Yushchenko signed the decree on sacking Ivan Pliushch from the post of the National Security and Defense Council secretary due to his electing to the parliament of Ukraine.
